plains/3days
Mt Biking and Rock climbing in Maasailand
Day 1:
After an early breakfast in Arusha
get picked up by your guide and drive south into Maasailand, have a picnic
lunch on the simanjiro plains. The Simanjiro plains are crucial calving grounds
for wildebeest and zebra of the Tarangire ecosystem from December-May. This
offers some great wildlife viewing of plains game including zebra, wildebeest,
and giraffe and grants gazelle. What better way to observe these animals then
from a mountain bike! Spend the afternoon biking into camp. Night at camp.
Day 2:
Spend the day rock climbing on beautiful granite close to camp. All climbs are on top rope with a varying difficulty of routes from easy 5.8 to harder 5.11. This day there is also the option for a half day excursion to climb up the Oldonyo Sambu Mountain which gives great rock scrambling opportunities and a 360 degree vista of the whole Tarangire ecosystem. While in camp you will be accompanied by Maasai guides allowing you to get acquainted with the Maasai culture. Night at camp.
