Get picked up by your Ngaiza Adventures driver from your hotel/lodge in Arusha and make your way into Arusha National Park. Enjoy the drive up through the lush mountain forests of Mt Meru, while spotting a range of diversity from sun antelope, red duiker Hartlaubs turaco and the leaping colobus monkeys. Start hiking toward the Meru ash cone base; a beautiful hike through the forest with great views of Mt Kilimanjaro on a clear day. This hike takes about 2-4 hours depending on your group’s fitness but also if you stop to bird and enjoy the scenery. You will be escorted by a armed TANAPA ranger as a safety precaution for there are often Cape Buffalo encountered on the trail.  Have a picnic lunch either at the base of the ash cone or by waterfalls on your drive down depending on the pace of your group. On your way out of the park enjoy driving by the mommela lakes which are often full of flamingo and many other water birds!
