The Z Hotel is located approximately 1 hour from Stone Town on the Northern tip of the island, this is a chic, 35 room self styled ’boutique’ hotel which blends elegant, contemporary design with traditional Zanzibar features to create a unique cool and relaxing environment.

Situated on the ground and 1st floors, our Superior Rooms offer easy access to the pool and garden with most of our 1st floor rooms having wonderful sea views. The balconies are perched just over our tropical garden so you will be in the perfect spot to experience the scents of the exotic flora and fauna just below.

2nd floor Deluxe Rooms offer uninterrupted, panoramic views taking in the West Coast of the Island out across the Indian Ocean and up to the Northern tip of Zanzibar. Natural light floods the room, while a wall of glass draws you to the wonderful view. It is an uplifting experience, which exemplifies the chic appeal of understatement. The Deluxe Rooms encompass all the elements of the Superior Rooms but with a number of additional features.

With 50 square metres of living space, the 2 Roof top suites have been individually designed by the owners and encompass all the benefits offered in the Deluxe Rooms but with additional features. As the name suggests, the suites perch on top of the building and enjoy double-height vaulted ceilings into the roof with exposed beams and amazing 360o views from the wrap around terrace.

 For extra privacy, the 2 Ocean Front Cottages are completely separate from the rest of the hotel’s accommodation. The living space is arranged over 2 floors with a ‘floating deck’ over the water which looks out directly across the Indian Ocean. Both floors have complete pull back bi-folding doors, opening the cottages up to the outside welcoming in the soft ware sea breeze. You will never forget the sound of waves hitting the rocks below as you lay back and soak up the African sun.

At 100 square metres, with beautiful décor, 2 terraces, indoor cocktail bar and outdoor Jacuzzi, the Z Suite offer the last word in decadence. The suite is arranged across an entire rooftop and offers opulent features fitting for newly wedded couples or for those looking for the smartest suite on Zanzibar. Everything about this suite exudes luxury and individuality; all rooms have pull back doors, inviting the outside in… the problem is, you will never want to leave.

Our Suggestion

This is a very stylish new hotel in a great location for exploring the bars, restaurants and culture of Nungwi.

The Ocean Front Cottages and Roof Top Suites in particular offer spectacular views, and throughout the hotel the design is clean and coherent. The beach here is lovely, but seldom deserted, as this is one of the busiest areas of Zanzibar. Do not come here expecting a peaceful and quiet beach destination, but rather come here for quality modern accommodation and the vibrant local culture.
