6 Days Great Rift Valley Lakes & Masai Mara safari

A tour of the scenic Great Rift Valley Lakes of Baringo, Bogoria, and Nakuru which are of great ornithological interest (famous for high concentration of birds). Then head south over the Mau Escarpment to Kenya’s greatest concentration of wild game all year round - the Masai Mara whose annual great wildebeest migration from the Serengeti has been described as the ‘7th wonder of the world’

Day 1 - Lake Baringo:
Pick up from your city centre hotel in the morning depart at 8.30am.We stop enroute at the great escarpment to have spectacular views of the Great Rift Valley. Have lunch on the way and then camp at Lake Baringo, a world famous bird sanctuary, late in the afternoon. Boat trip to see the hippos, crocodiles and the birds if the lake is not stormy otherwise first thing following morning

Day 2 - Lake Nakuru:
Drive 30kms south to the scenic Lake Bogoria with the [very] hot springs. Don’t fall in. Flamingos live here and you can explore on foot. Lunch and then proceed to Lake Nakuru national park famous for its bird life for a game drive. Overnight in a campsite outside the park

Day 3 - Masai Mara:
We head south to Narok. Lunch enroute and view animals as we proceed to our campsite located at the edge of the Masai Mara Game Reserve where we pitch our tents by late afternoon.

Days 4 & 5 - Masai Mara:
We intensively explore Masai Mara’s amazingly high concentration of game (throughout the year) these two days from the back of your tour vehicle in the morning and the afternoon, each day, with the help of your experienced professional tour guide to spot the animals. The Masai Mara Game Reserve is 1510sq km of open rolling grasslands dotted with the acacia trees and harboring lions, leopards, cheetah, elephants, buffaloes, zebras, massai giraffes, hippos, black rhinos, spotted hyenas  many. Also visit a Masai village for a cultural insight at a fee


Day 6 – Nairobi:
We break camp and drive to Narok where Masai souvenirs can be bought, then back to Nairobi by late afternoon.

Included in the safari price:
    -Transport in a shared safari minivan with pop up roof for best game viewing
    -Pickups and drop offs within the city centre
    -Services of a professional  English speaking driver/guide
    -Game park entrance fees
    -All campsite fees
    -Accommodation in a canvas tent on a double sharing basis
    -Three meals a day whether vegetarian or non-vegetarian.
     -Meal Plan – BB=Bed, Breakfast; LD= Lunch, dinner; BLD= breakfast, lunch, dinner
    -Activities as indicated in the specified safari itinerary

 What you need to bring on safari:
    -Money for personal spending and tipping
    -Only a small case or rucksack, as storage space is limited [maximum 20kgs].
    -A pair of long trousers and jersey for the cool mornings and evenings in addition to plenty of light clothes for hot days (do not forget a hat), swim suit, a pillow, comfortable shoes/sandals and snacks
    -Torch, sunglasses, suntan lotion, insect repellent/spray but not mosquito coils
    -Mineral water and beverages
    -Camera, memory cards, binoculars, maps, guide-books
    -Toilet paper, towel, soap and toothbrush/paste
