6 Days Amboseli Nakuru Masai Mara | Ngaiza
Adventures
A safari to view the photo scenic
and spectacular Mt. Kilimanjaro -the highest mountain in Africa as well as an
opportunity to visit the most popular parks in Kenya namely Nakuru and
Masai Mara famous for the pink flamingos and the annual great wildebeest
migration from Serengeti during summer months of July to October of each year
respectively.
Departs Thursday
Day1: Nairobi/Amboseli
We depart Nairobi in the morning and
drive via Emali along Mombasa Road to the plains below Mt. Kilimanjaro where
Amboseli is situated. After a picnic lunch enroute prepared by your safari chef
we enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park before setting up camp in
preparation for the evening. With the majestic backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro,
spectacular displays of wildlife – lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, cheetah,
buffalo and various plains’ game, postcard perfect pictures are almost always
guaranteed.
Day2: Amboseli.
We spend the day enjoying Amboseli
National Park through early morning and afternoon game drives. Lunch will be at
your campsite and you have the option of visiting the nearby lodge for a swim
and cold drink or have a cultural visit in a nearby Masai Boma.
The waters from Mt. Kilimanjaro
drain under lava flows and surface in Amboseli, creating a green belt of
swampland amidst dusty plains. At 329 sq km Amboseli is a small park and lacks
the profusion of animal species found in the Mara, but the landscape provides
limited cover so we have better chances of seeing some of the larger predators.
Buffaloes, lions, gazelles, cheetahs, wildebeest, hyenas, jackals, warthogs,
Masai Giraffes, zebra, baboon, and waterbuck are all present in the park.
Day3: Amboseli / Rift Valley / Lake
Nakuru
After an early breakfast, we depart
Amboseli viewing game en route as we proceed to Lake Nakuru National via Nairobi
and further down the Escarpment to the floor of the Great Rift Valley where the
game park is situated. We enjoy a picnic lunch en route arriving in the late
afternoon. We set up camp for the night just outside the park.
The park covers 180 sq km and is
home to warthogs, waterbuck, buffaloes, reedbucks, and the occasional leopard.
Lake Nakuru National Park is a Rhino sanctuary for white and black rhinos which
were introduced to the park some years back. Lake Nakuru National Park has also
retained its reputation as an ornithologists’ delight with more than 400
species of bird found here.
Day4: Nakuru/Masai Mara.
Day4: Nakuru/Masai Mara.
We have early morning breakfast
before venturing into Lake Nakuru National Park for a morning game drive. We
return to the campsite after the game drive to dismantle our camp and proceed
to Masai Mara via Narok town with packed lunches. Arrive Mara in the late
afternoon and view game along as you head to your campsite for the night.
The Mara game reserve is a typical
savannah loaded with amazing wildlife all year round. Whichever direction you
take in the Masai Mara there is plenty of wildlife to see such as Masai
giraffe, baboons, and warthogs, bat eared foxes, grey jackals, spotted hyena, topics,
impala, hartebeests and wildebeest. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos
also exist in great numbers. It is also common to see lions either basking
after a heavy meal, or surveying the plains for their next meal. Cheetahs and
leopards are harder to spot but are still reasonably common.
Day5: Masai Mara
The following day will be spent in
the game reserve; game viewing and absorbing the amazing sceneries. Optional
activities include visiting a Masai village or school. You may also visit a
lodge for a refreshing drink or swim. The ultimate action here is without doubt
the great annual wildebeest exodus in July and August when millions of these
grass eaters move north from the Serengeti in search of lush pastures before
turning south again in October. Balloon trips are an entirely outstanding way
of seeing the savannah plains and the wildlife after which you come back down
for an exciting champagne breakfast and these trips can be arranged at our
office upon booking.
Day6: Masai Mara/Nairobi
Have
morning game drive in the reserve before departing back towards Nairobi
arriving in the late afternoon. Lunch will be served en-route by your safari
chef. END OF
